Technology Overview
Semiconductor circuits such as microprocessors are operating at ever increasing clock frequencies and are shrinking in size with considerably higher performance. They operate at lower voltages but demand increasingly higher current at higher power.
Design architects have made progress managing this growing power demand by smart switching of the processor circuitry. But this practice creates sharp current transients and needs bursts of quick energy supply. To allow for this, many engineers surround the processor with bulk capacitors and related circuitry to keep the processor running. The downside to this practice is decreased reliability, increased board space and higher cost.
CHiL offers a unique and patented solution to address these transient problems by replacing the bulk capacitors with new mixed signal power technology providing extraordinary reliability and cost savings. The new technology will free designers to pursue smaller and more energy efficient desktop PCs, notebook computers, servers, graphics cards and related devices.
